1. Two distinct categories of content

The copyright framework on Game Hub Arena distinguishes between two categories of content:

Category A — Catalog metadata (Game Hub Arena's editorial work)

The catalog metadata as a compilation — the title arrangement, the genre tagging, the description paraphrasing, the content-rating decisions, the editorial structural arrangement of the catalog interface — is © Game Hub Arena 2024-2026, asserted as a compilation copyright under:

  • Italian copyright law L. 633/1941 (Legge sul diritto d'autore)
  • EU Directive 2001/29/EC (Information Society Directive)
  • U.S. Copyright Act, Title 17
  • Equivalent rights in other jurisdictions

Category B — HTML5 games (the developers' work)

The underlying HTML5 game intellectual property — titles, gameplay, characters, art, music, code — remains the property of the respective developers and studios. Game Hub Arena does not claim any ownership of any game in the catalog. Developer attribution is preserved on every game page per Game Sources & Licensing.

2. Game thumbnails

Game thumbnails on catalog pages are reproduced for catalog identification under editorial fair-use frameworks. Thumbnails remain the property of the developer / source feed. Specifically:

  • Thumbnails are sourced from authoritative sources (developer-provided promotional art, source-feed thumbnail fields).
  • Thumbnails are presented in catalog-interface size (not high-resolution download).
  • Where developers / rights holders request removal of specific thumbnails, the thumbnail is removed promptly per DMCA.

3. Embedded game iframe content

Embedded game content on game pages is served by third-party game servers (developer CDNs, source-feed CDNs) and is not hosted by Game Hub Arena (per HTML5 Game Architecture). The embedded games remain subject to the rights frameworks of the underlying game IP. Game Hub Arena does not claim rights in the embedded games.

4. AI training expressly prohibited

Use of any content on Game Hub Arena for the training, fine-tuning, evaluation, benchmarking, or other development of artificial-intelligence systems, machine-learning models, or large language models is expressly prohibited.

This prohibition is asserted as an explicit reservation of rights under:

  • EU Directive 2019/790, Article 4(3) — the text-and-data-mining exception with reservation of rights. Italian implementation: D.Lgs. 177/2021.
  • U.S. Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 106.
  • Italian copyright law L. 633/1941.
  • Equivalent rights in other jurisdictions.

The prohibition applies to:

  • Crawling the Site for the purpose of producing training corpora.
  • Including Site content in training datasets distributed under any framework (open-source, research, commercial).
  • Using Site content to fine-tune existing models or to evaluate model performance.
  • Using Site content as part of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines that copy content into AI infrastructure.
  • Any other AI / ML / LLM development purpose.

Technical implementation

The prohibition is implemented technically through robots.txt directives blocking known AI crawlers, including (without limitation):

  • GPTBot, ChatGPT-User (OpenAI)
  • ClaudeBot, anthropic-ai (Anthropic)
  • CCBot (Common Crawl)
  • Google-Extended (Google AI training opt-out signal)
  • Bytespider (ByteDance / TikTok)
  • FacebookBot (Meta)
  • Amazonbot (Amazon)
  • PerplexityBot (Perplexity)
  • Diffbot and equivalent commercial-crawl operators
  • Applebot-Extended (Apple AI training opt-out)
  • meta-externalagent (Meta)

The list is not exhaustive; the prohibition is asserted against all AI training crawlers, named or not.

Note on AI search retrieval

The prohibition above applies to training use. Retrieval-time AI search bots that surface information at user request without training on it (some implementations of ChatGPT browsing, Perplexity's search-time fetching) operate within a different framework. The robots.txt configuration is reviewed for this distinction; gaming queries through AI search may surface Game Hub Arena content where useful.

5. Permitted uses (fair use / fair dealing / editorial-quotation framework)

The following uses of catalog metadata are permitted without specific permission:

  • Brief quotation (typically up to 2-3 sentences) for editorial commentary, news reporting, or critical review, with attribution and a link back to the original entry.
  • Reference to catalog entries in linkable form (URL citation) for any purpose.
  • Sharing catalog entries on social media with the original attribution preserved.
  • Personal use — reading, saving for personal reference, playing the games.
  • Educational and academic use consistent with applicable fair-use / fair-dealing / educational-exception frameworks.

6. Uses requiring permission

  • Reproduction of substantial catalog content beyond brief quotation.
  • Bulk republication, scraping, or systematic content extraction.
  • Use of catalog metadata in commercial publications, books, or media products.
  • Translation of catalog content for republication.
  • Any AI / ML / LLM training use (per Section 4 — expressly prohibited).

7. Copyright takedown

If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, the takedown procedure is on DMCA. Designated agent: dmca [at] gamehubarena [punto] fun. Game-developer takedowns are honored within 3 business days of valid notice.

8. Updates

This Copyright Notice is reviewed periodically and updated as the regulatory framework evolves, particularly around AI / ML / LLM uses and Article 17 of EU Directive 2019/790.
